Missouri Deer; There are over 1.3 million deer in Missouri as of 2019. About 1.4 million in 2018, up from an estimated population of 1.2 million deer in 2015 through 2017.
The population trended higher during 2016 in some areas as a result of harvest restrictions and limited disease impact.
Deer (singular and plural) are the hoofed ruminant mammals forming the family Cervidae. The two main groups of deer are the Cervinae, including the muntjac, the elk (wapiti), the fallow deer, and the chital; and the capreolinae, including the reindeer (caribou), the roe deer, and the moose.
